Gardens that
feel deeply
alive.

We design considered outdoor spaces for homes and properties across the Northern Rivers — from intimate coastal courtyards to sweeping acreage gardens planted for the long term.

The Studio

Rooted in place,
designed for the
long arc of a garden.

Greenhaus was founded in Byron Bay over a decade ago by landscape designer Mia Voss and horticulturalist Tom Searle. We work exclusively across the Northern Rivers — from Byron and Bangalow to Mullumbimby, Ballina, and the Tweed hinterland — because we believe knowing a place deeply is what separates a garden that performs from one that merely looks good on handover day.

Every project starts with the site: its light, its soil, its existing ecology and the way the owners actually use the space. We design with Australian natives and drought-adapted perennials as a baseline — not because it's fashionable, but because they endure. Introduced species earn their place when they serve the design.

How We Work

A process built
around listening
first.

We don't arrive with a signature style to impose on your property. Every design begins as a response to the site, the microclimate, and how you actually want to live outdoors.

1

Site Visit & Discovery

We spend a morning on your property — walking, measuring, photographing, and talking through how you want to use the space. We look at sun angles, prevailing winds, soil type, and existing plants worth keeping. No charge for this visit within the Northern Rivers.

2

Concept Design

Within three weeks we present a concept masterplan: a scaled layout, 3D renders of key views, a preliminary plant palette, and a ball-park budget range. One round of revisions is included. Most clients are surprised how closely it matches what they had imagined but hadn't been able to articulate.

3

Documentation & Pricing

Once the concept is approved, we produce construction drawings, a detailed planting schedule with species specifications, and a fixed-price build quote. No surprises mid-project.

4

Build & Installation

Our crew handles all stages — earthworks, hard landscaping, irrigation, planting, and lighting. We work to a phased programme and keep you updated weekly. Site is left clean at the end of every workday.

5

Handover & Aftercare

On completion you receive a full plant list with care notes, irrigation controller settings, and our emergency contact for the first wet season. Ongoing maintenance programs are available — most of our clients choose one.

"The best gardens disappear into the landscape.
You stop seeing the design and start feeling the place."

Client Stories

What our clients say

"Mia listened to everything we said about how we wanted to use the garden — entertaining, the kids, morning coffee in the sun — and the design answered every single one of those things. Three years on it looks better than the render."

Sarah & James Holden Bangalow, NSW

"We had a sloping acreage block that every other designer wanted to terrace into submission. Greenhaus worked with the land. The revegetation along the creek is extraordinary — it looks like it's always been there."

David Nguyen Mullumbimby, NSW

"From first meeting to handover was 14 weeks — faster than we expected, zero drama on site, and they came in under the contingency budget. The maintenance team are brilliant too. We've recommended Greenhaus to four friends."
